Shopping - Local Shops
Once you know your way around, you will find that Swaledale and the surrounding areas are home to many independant shops from outdoor clothing, to ladies fashion, shoes and handbags, lingerie, and even an independent department store, Milners of Leyburn. There are also the weekly markets with a great variety of stalls in Richmond, Leyburn, Reeth and Hawes.
However, for those that would prefer a large town for a full day's shopping experience, the Lake District town of Kendal is just over an hour's drive from Muker. So you can enjoy a peaceful stay in quiet Swaledale, yet still pop over the hill and visit the Lake District.

A place for anyone that loves the outdoors and is in need/or want of some new gear: A small but well stocked outdoors shop hidden away behind Hudson House in Reeth of Swaledale. Follow the finger posts on Reeth Green and you’ll find it easily enough. The owner, Richard, only stocks great kit and specialises in light weight gear and will take the time to find what you are looking for and advise you of his products. It’s a shop that’s well worth a visit whether you need anything or not. Make sure you say a hello from us when you call in!

Fat Sheep - Local Crafts & Produce
A small shop situated on Reeth Green, which sells local crafts and produce, all produced exclusively within the Yorkshire Dales. Their stock changes regularly as many of their suppliers work on a fairly small scale, so for something different, why not call in?
Scenic View Art Gallery - Photographic Gallery
Located on Silver Street in Reeth, this gallery displays an exciting collection of landscape photographs on display both framed and mounted taken in and around the local area. Debbie also sells handmade greeting cards of their images.

Milners of Leyburn - Department Store
Milners of Leyburn is an established family business situated in Leyburn market square selling homestyle products, ladies, gents and children’s fashions, gifts and accessories. They sell everything from clothing, jewellery and handbags to flooring, carpets and blinds.
On the ground and lower ground floors you will find their 'fashion store' which houses ladies, gents and childrens clothing and accessories.
On the first floor you will find their 'home store' where you can find anything from curtain hooks to sofas.

Head Over Heels - Ladies Shoes & Accessories
Opened in 2010 by Charlotte Barker, this is the first place to go for stylish shoes, boots, bags and accessories. A remarkable store that has plenty of choice and variety, and 'must-haves'. Charlotte stocks Marco Tozzi, Rieker and Spanish makes Pilar Abril and Menbur, which are only available elsewhere in the region in Fenwick, Newcastle. As well as bags which match the shoe ranges, she also stocks handbags and purses by Elite and Ali & Lou. The jewellery collection is by Topaz Glow, a great value range of chunky bangles and necklaces. All in all, a ladies heaven!
